Nest building

It’s curious the things you see while daydreaming out the window. My banana trees all have brown leaves strewn about them, especially after this past week’s strange freezing event in Houston. And, I’m guessing this squirrel is building himself (or herself) a nest.

Cool, this stuff should make a great nest.

My babies are going to love this stuff.

Hey, give me my nest material!

Almost got it.

Well, I thought I had it. What's going on here?

Err, Come on! Let go! (worth clicking on this one to see his stance)

Finally got it. Well, part of it. I'll be back for you!
I think I watched this guy for about 10 minutes.

  1. Too funny! I love watching the squirrels in my yard. I haven't seen them going after the frost-fried banana leaves, but there's plenty there if they want them.

  3. I have two bigger birdhouse up in the trees in my backyard and in one I had an owl nesting for several years and in the other one squirrels were nesting and raising their babies. I just love watching the squirrels and now it even seems like our dog and the squirrels seem to become friends. LOL
Our dog Brownie just acts like she doesn't care if the squirrel comes down to the ground eating the seeds, the birds have dropped from their feeders. If she does get up walking toward the squirrel, the squirrel seems not to be in too much of a hurry to get up on the tree where it would be safe for the dog. They are sometimes only a few feet apart from each other, looking at each.

    Have a nice day
